Picking up a new boat overseas can be overwhelming, but for Drew and Eloïse Hakin, TMG Yachts made the process seamless, from handover in France to remote support in Panama.
“TMG Yachts made buying this boat in Europe such a pleasant experience.
The boat is very well-thought out so it wasn’t difficult to pick up how to handle her. The TMG Yachts team are all very knowledgeable and their instruction was invaluable.
I would say if you want to do it, just do it… So many people put things off until retirement and then can’t achieve their dream when they get there.”

Why life is better lived on a Lagoon – Greg and Sue

Greg and Sue Harding are proud owners of a Lagoon 440 and lifelong sailors who have embraced the Lagoon lifestyle wholeheartedly.
“Our love affair with Lagoon started from day one. We always had in the back of our mind that someday we would own a catamaran. We knew the outstanding reputation of the Lagoon brand and the model we wanted… we just couldn’t afford to say no to a Lagoon!
The Lagoon is so safe… Sue’s 77 year old mum spent five weeks cruising with us. She didn’t want to go home! With a Lagoon, you can escape the modern world. This a lifestyle that takes away the stresses of the modern age. You can be as independent or as social as you want.”

Unschooling is not following a prepackaged curriculum exactly ie: in the order, it’s being taught in the schools. It’s more just following the kid’s lead and nurturing what they want to learn.

Lastly, don’t worry about ‘socialisation’. It’s a common misconception that homeschooled kids are poorly socialised.” Nick and Lyndy, Lagoon 400, Katsumi

Sailing Sabella – A Lagoon 42 Adventure – Lara and Aaron

With two young daughters in tow, Aaron and Lara Jones knew their boat needed to feel like home. For them, the Lagoon 42 offered the right mix of visibility, comfort, safety, and performance to support a life less ordinary.
“I wanted a big, spacious saloon that felt like a home, like a floating apartment. With a monohull, the kids would be down below where I couldn’t see them. On the Lagoon 42, we can steer the boat from the same level and the entire thing can be enclosed without feeling cut off. It’s perfect for a young family.
The shape, the layout, the feel, it all just works. It’s not all cocktails and sunsets, but this is the life we’re after.”

The Perfect Family Home on the Water – Why We Love Our Lagoon – Kristy and Darren

Six months into their liveaboard journey, Kristy, Darren, and their three kids are fully immersed in Lagoon life aboard Pacific High. From baby-friendly design to independent space for each child, the Lagoon has made this lifestyle not only possible, but enjoyable for the whole family.
“Lagoons are perfect as a liveaboard option. They have plenty of room, and everyone in the family has their own space, the boat never feels cramped.
The boat itself is actually pretty baby-friendly… cupboards have push buttons, furniture is fixed, and with the safety nets and gates, it’s a secure environment for Frankie.
We’ve had some amazing experiences. Sailing is something we all love, and most importantly, we all really like being together and enjoying quality family time.”

“Living the dream” on board a Lagoon 380 – Justin and Kelly

For Justin and Kelly Felter, the Lagoon 380 is more than just a yacht, it’s their home, their office, and their gateway to a global adventure. Designed for simplicity, comfort, and long-term liveaboard life, the 380 has proven to be the perfect vessel for their dream lifestyle.
“We chose the Lagoon 380 for her spacious interior, it’s like a floating apartment with so much indoor and outdoor living space. She’s super easy to sail and has everything we need to live and work on board comfortably.
We’ve added solar, a watermaker, and batteries to live off the grid, and we still can’t believe how peaceful it is. We wake up to sunrises, dolphins, and views from our cabin that beat any office window.
To be honest, if we’d known how great life is on a Lagoon, we’d have made the change years ago.”

Advice for those thinking of buying a Lagoon – Lara and Aaron

Advice for those thinking of buying a Lagoon – Lara and Aaron

From clueless first-timers to confident sailors, the Jones family have created a treasure trove of memories and a new sense of self over 6 months, here’s their advice to those thinking about setting sail.
“For other families considering this sort of adventure on a Lagoon, I’d advise them to stop stalking other sailing families on Facebook like I did for 10 years! Draw a line in the sand. Set a date. Decide to do it and off you go.
When Lara told me she wanted to buy a boat, we bought a boat and off we went. We found ourselves sitting in idyllic (and I don’t use that word lightly) anchorages almost every night.
Looking through crystal clear water at the bottom of the ocean 10m down and wondering if life could get any better… it just doesn’t. Would we do it again? In a heartbeat.”

Our Lagoon 500 has done the equivalent of three laps around the world and still sails beautifully. The Lagoon 560 gives us confidence in all conditions, even 80-knot winds in the Bahamas.

Nearly a decade later, they’ve cruised across Southeast Asia, tackled rough seas, joined international rallies, and turned their Lagoon into a floating home, studio, and gateway to adventure.
“Our Lagoon 440 is fast, safe and incredibly comfortable. She handles rough seas with confidence and motors beautifully through calm conditions. It feels more like a floating apartment than a boat, with everything we need for long-term cruising.
We weren’t experienced sailors when we left Melbourne, but this boat has taken us all the way through Indonesia, Malaysia and beyond. She’s stable, well-designed, and lets us live this lifestyle without stress. It’s the perfect retirement, adventurous, inspiring and full of great company.”

Trading a Backyard for a Back Deck on the Sea – Home on a Lagoon – Bob and Margret

After packing up their Brisbane home, Bob and Margaret Kennedy set sail in search of a more adventurous lifestyle. Life aboard their Lagoon 420 Casablanca has given them comfort, freedom, and a community of like-minded cruisers.
“We’ve had Casablanca for six years and we wouldn’t swap her for anything else. Our last boat felt like camping, but the Lagoon feels like home.
There’s space for the whole family, it’s easy to sail as a couple, and everything is just smartly laid out. From solar power and a washing machine to a safe, open cockpit for the grandkids, she ticks every box.
This lifestyle wasn’t planned, one day Bob just said, ‘Let’s buy a boat,’ and now here we are, thousands of miles later, with no regrets. Lagoon gave us the confidence to go anywhere, and the comfort to truly enjoy it.”

The Sabella adventure begins – Lagoon handling with confidence – Lara and Aaron

After weathering winter in Les Sables, Aaron, Lara, and their two daughters began the journey south toward Lisbon. With support from TMG and a delivery skipper onboard, they put Sabella through her first serious ocean test, and came out stronger, more skilled, and inspired.
“Our Lagoon 42 handled the Bay of Biscay far better than expected. We set off in cold, windy conditions and motored straight into 20 hours of waves and headwinds, she didn’t skip a beat.
The real highlight was her downwind performance. With the Code 0 up, we were making half wind speed in light conditions, which I didn’t think was even possible in a cruising cat. Sabella just felt incredibly stable and capable throughout.
There were so many unforgettable moments, sunsets, dolphins, peaceful night watches, but most of all, we kept saying how lucky we felt to be experiencing it all from our own floating home. This boat has given us a new way of living.”

Why He Keeps Coming Back to Lagoon – Is this the best Lagoon 450 ever? – John and Mariet

Why He Keeps Coming Back to Lagoon – Is this the best Lagoon 450 ever? – John and Mariet

John and Mariet are no strangers to the Lagoon community. With three Lagoons under their belt and decades of sailing experience, they’ve developed a deep appreciation for what sets these catamarans apart. Their latest love, Themis, a meticulously upgraded Lagoon 450F is a standout not just for its condition but for the thought and care John has poured into every detail.
“Themis looks brand new, I’m very particular. From the 2.4KW of solar to the lithium battery bank, we’ve never needed shore power. We’ve added a code 0 with continuous furling, an electric outboard on a lightweight dinghy, a watermaker, and a custom hardtop you can walk on. Everything is designed for real liveaboard comfort and off-grid freedom.
Lagoon boats are properly built for cruising, strong, smart, and easy to sail short-handed. I’ve owned other cats, but I keep coming back to Lagoon because they simply get better every time. For comfort, reliability, and thoughtful design, nothing else compares.”

A Dream Delivered – Taking Delivery in France with TMG Yachts – Lara and Aaron

For the Jones family, picking up their brand-new yacht in Les Sables-d’Olonne marked the beginning of a long-dreamed-of adventure. Thanks to TMG Yachts, what could have been a daunting overseas handover became a joyful, seamless experience that exceeded all expectations.
“From the moment we arrived in France, the experience felt curated and considered. The boat exceeded all expectations, not just the pristine condition and that magical new boat smell, but the warmth of the welcome, the attention to detail, and the sheer effort TMG had gone to on our behalf. TMG Yachts had worked closely with commissioning agent Sailing Atlantic Services to ensure Sabella was turnkey ready. Even the third-party tender was delivered, inflated, and installed without a single request from the owners.
John Cowpe kindly came over from Sydney to do the handover. We cannot express the amount of gratitude we feel towards this gentleman and his company, which has taken a complex and potentially traumatic process and turned it into something of deep joy for our family. All the little extra details and thought… the help from SAS and the rest of the commissioning team… I’m speechless. Lara and I are just over the moon with how we’ve been treated here. It made me feel really special and really lucky to be able to experience something like this. Every little detail was thought of.”

From Monohulls to Effortless Catamaran Cruising – They couldn’t resist the Lagoon 39 – Graeme and Linda

Graeme and Linda Hubbard weren’t planning to buy a boat, but when they stepped aboard the Lagoon 39, they were instantly sold. With its apartment-style layout, sweeping views, and easy handling, Zephyr offered everything they were looking for in a cruising catamaran.
“As soon as we got onboard, we were sold, the sliding doors, the 360-degree view, and that big window by the kitchen sink made it feel like an apartment. The layout just works. There’s so much storage, the cabins are spacious, and the galley being up top makes a huge difference.
For our age, it’s the perfect boat. It’s easy to walk around, stable, and simple to sail, the electric winch is a dream. We’ve always had fun on boats but this is the easiest, most comfortable one yet. And the handover from Ross at TMG was fabulous, he went through everything in detail, which we’ve never had before.
This isn’t hard work. It’s easy and cruisey. We’ll see more people, share more laughs, and drink more bubbly aboard Zephyr, that’s what it’s all about.”

From Land to Lagoon: Why they traded a caravan for a 50ft Lagoon – Darren and Kristy

When caravanning didn’t quite fit the bill, Darren and Kristy Waters made a bold move, they sold up and bought a Lagoon 500. With three kids in tow and minimal sailing experience, they’ve embraced a new kind of freedom aboard Pacific High, their floating home designed for long-term adventure.
“We looked at smaller catamarans at first, but as soon as we stepped aboard the Lagoon 500, we knew it was the one. The layout is perfect for family life, there’s space for everyone to retreat to their own room, a galley upstairs where I can keep my kitchen gear, and the open living area makes it feel more like a home than a boat.
We wanted the kids to grow up in nature, not stuck to a routine, and Pacific High gives us that. We can anchor in beautiful places, let them kayak to the beach, snorkel, explore. We’re more present, more connected, and less distracted.
Honestly, it’s not as hard as people think. Our Lagoon is incredibly user-friendly, and the community you meet out here is amazing. If anyone is thinking of doing the same… just do it.”
