Navigating Through Challenges

The journey wasn’t without its challenges. One particular moment that stood out was encountering a storm. Chris vividly remembers, “We could see this huge dark cloud up ahead…” However, Mark’s calm and collected demeanor eased the situation. “Mark handled it super well,” Chris recalled.

One stand out for Chris was Marks foresight to radio a ship up ahead, “the ship had passed us and disappeared into the cloud. The crew informed us to expect 50kts and heavy rain so we had 5 minutes to get the sails down.” Fortunately, they were able to navigate through the storm safely, a testament to Mark’s expertise and Chris’s trust in him.

Magical Moments at Sea

Amidst the challenges, there were also moments of sheer magic. One such instance occurred during a night watch when dolphins glided gracefully through the phosphorescence, creating an enchanting spectacle. “It was magical,” Chris reminisced, highlighting the awe-inspiring beauty of nature experienced during the journey.

Lessons Learned and Impressions Made

Reflecting on his journey, Chris gleaned valuable lessons. One tip he plans to carry with him is the importance of reefing the main when sailing at night. Despite the challenges, Chris found the trip enjoyable, praising the boat’s performance and the overall experience. “It was a pleasant trip,” Chris remarked, impressed by the boat’s capabilities and the smooth sailing experience.
