Peter Hrones – TMG Yachts Co-founder

Peter Hrones is a visionary force in the Australian and New Zealand marine industry, renowned for his ability to anticipate market trends and introduce innovative brands that resonate with local boating enthusiasts. With over three decades of experience, Peter’s journey has been marked by bold decisions and a deep passion for the boating lifestyle.

Peter began his career in the late 1980s as a yacht broker in Palm Beach, honing his expertise in yacht sales and customer service. In 1999, he founded The Windcraft Group, bringing premium European yacht designs to Australia. Under his leadership, the company flourished, establishing itself as a market leader. However, in 2017, Peter sold Windcraft to focus on his next ambitious venture: TMG Yachts (previously The Multihull Group).

Together with co-founders John Cowpe and Tim Vine, Peter launched TMG Yachts with a clear vision to meet the growing demand for multihulls in Australia. Recognizing the appeal of catamarans for their stability, space, and comfort, Peter positioned the company as the go-to destination for multihull enthusiasts. “Multihulls have revolutionized how people experience the water,” Peter explains. “We knew that Australians would embrace these innovative designs, and we were determined to bring them the best brands in the world.”

Peter’s passion for boating extends beyond the boardroom. In 2008, he embarked on a transformative sailing journey with his family aboard a cruising yacht, an experience that deepened his appreciation for life on the water. Today, Peter continues to nurture his love for sailing, frequently enjoying twilight sails on his Saffier 33. Beyond the water, he stays active with weekly tennis matches alongside a team of past and present colleagues. More recently, Peter has embraced golf, relishing the challenge of the sport and expanding his collection of clubs as he looks forward to more time on the course.

While Peter remains deeply involved in TMG Yachts’ strategic direction, day-to-day operations are expertly managed by John Cowpe. Together, they have built a company that prioritizes customer satisfaction, supported by an in-house service team at Vesseltec that ensures yacht owners enjoy a seamless experience. “Service is at the heart of what we do,” Peter says. “We want every owner to feel confident and cared for, from the moment they join the TMG Yachts family.”

Peter Hrones’s legacy in the marine industry is one of bold innovation, strategic foresight, and a genuine love for the water. His influence has shaped not only the companies he has led but also the broader Australian boating community.

“It’s about creating unforgettable experiences on the water,” Peter reflects. “And I’m proud to have played a role in helping people discover the joy and freedom of boating.”
