The eagerly anticipated Lagoon Escapade in the Whitsunday Islands will be held on 20 & 21 July 2017.

The Multihull Group is proud to support this event and are looking forward to seeing many Lagoon owners and crews gather in the Whitsundays for a social meet-up. It promises to be a lot of fun!

If you haven’t yet booked, the following highlights are a little reminder of what we got up to last year. Don’t miss out — register your interest here.

Greg and Sue Harding – Lagoon 410 “Sunshine”

“Sue and I were excited to see the enthusiasm of Lagoon owners even before the event started. There was so much excitement and interest that Paul Rogers and his lovely partner Kathryn decided on a “Lagoon Prequel Cocktail Party” on their beautiful Lagoon 450 “Moore R & R” where 28 owners from 14 boats enjoyed a fun get together with most talking about the following day’s events.

Owners had battled gale winds to attend the event with Sue and I battling gale force winds sailing in company with Paul and Kathryn’s Lagoon 450, seeing 45 knots of wind as we crossed the Whitsunday Passage to ensure our attendance which was a highlight in itself. Even more exciting was to hear that several Lagoon Catamarans had already arrived in rendezvous area of Cid Harbour, several days in advance of the gathering.

Despite inclement weather 16 Lagoons owners plus the fabulous group from The Multihull Group had an unforgettable day on the shore of Cid Harbour at Dugong Beach in the Whitsunday Islands.

Finally, the camaraderie, not only of fellow Lagoon owners but the staff and management of The Multihull Group made for an unforgettable experience that we will never forget.

Without doubt the best experience we had was the company of fellow Lagoon owners.

Everyone without exception joined in on the fun. There was much laughter and frivolity in a brilliant location. Many new friends were made along with a cementing of the Lagoon family on the east Coast of Australia”

Paul Rogers – Lagoon 450F “Moor RnR”

“The day the earth moved, or should that be sea?

It was early afternoon the day after the big BBQ, due to a lack of sunshine we where forced to run the 11kW Gen set to recharge the house batteries. There was a horrible vibration with a very loud noise and the L450 started to shake. I screamed at Kathy, who was down the owners side “To turn the Gen Set off” It sounded like a piston was smashing it’s way through the hull. Once the generator stopped, I realised the noise was still continuing so dashed up on deck. All the Lagoons anchored around us had people on deck looking at each other with hands in the air. Safe it was not a problem on our boat or any one else’s the relief of every one was obvious.

The second biggest earthquake ever recorded off the east Australian coast had shaken areas of central and north Queensland…Some 25 Nautical miles due North of our anchorage.

I am guessing Lagoon can not arrange for the Earth to Move for every Escapade, but The Multihull Group seem to be trying with the pre-planning well under way for the 2017 Event.

“(Paul liked) The chance to catch up and socialise with other like minded Lagoon owners and crews. Everything else is just icing on the cake. It is all about the people you meet on a Lagoon. It’s that simple it is all about the people”.
